Présentation

Belgian, 54 years old, Denis Van Weynbergh has been passionate about sailing since he was a child, sailing every summer with his family all over Europe. The revelation of the open sea and racing came to him in 2001 during his participation in the Mini Transat.

He is first and foremost a fulfilled father of two boys and manager of a small business.

Skipper-Armateur, he is the owner since 2018 of Nandor Fa's former boat.

After having participated in all the major offshore races, Denis is aiming for the Vendée Globe.

A solo, non-stop, unassisted round-the-world race. These three criteria are inseparable from the legendary ocean race and make its DNA.

A human, sporting and technological adventure that Denis Van Weynbergh has been dreaming of for more than twenty years, the desire to build a collaborative project with his team of volunteers based in Les Sables d'Olonne.

After qualifying and registering for the Vendée Globe 2020, he had to put an end to his project due to lack of funding, this decision was taken as a responsible business manager.

He hopes to become the first Belgian to complete this round the world race and to share the experience with as many people as possible by sending a strong message of determination and tenacity.

Collecting miles and participating in the major races that make up the IMOCA class calendar between now and 2024, such as the Transat Jacques Vabre, the Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe, the Vendée -Arctic - Les Sables d'Olonne, the Bermuda 1000 Race or The Transat CIC, are the sailor's first challenges.

To reach his goals, he can now count on the support of Laboratoires de Biarritz, designers of organic skincare products of natural origin directly inspired by the resources of the ocean, as well as a Polynesian company, MANA MAOORI TATAU, and a small team of enlightened amateurs who work on the boat in their free time.

However, he is still looking for partners and sponsors in order to complete his budget.

For Denis, a "Vendée Globe" is a personal, philosophical and initiatory journey but also a collaborative and eco-responsible project on land and sea.

On November 7, 2021 Denis Van Weynbergh will take the start of the Transat Jacques Vabre alongside Tanguy La Turquay.
